1Made by Luxottica, exceedingly poor warranty service
By Roger Schaaf
Purchased sunglasses at Ferragamo store at Santana Row in San Jose. Paid a good deal of 300.00 dollars. Immediately found that when opening glasses to place on head, that right side lens would from time to time fall out. Went back to store, they said that they could not warranty, that we must return to their vendor which is Luxottica.

Called them, told that 12.50 charge to return for warranty and repair. Paid the 12.50 sent glasse to them and waited and waited. Finally received a letter that problem was not a warranty issue and they wanted another another 20.00 to repair. Was given a telephone number to call.

I called the number, was put on hold for 15 minutes while listening to the normal refrain “due to overpowering response,,,,,,,,da,da,,,da” that it would take a while to get to me and to please call back at another time. After the long wait, the phone was hung up on. Called again, same thing after a great deal of minutes. Third time got thru to a great deal of clerk who took my 20.00 dollars on a credit card. Was told would seem my glasses back in 6 to 10 weeks, likely the middle of fall when no need for sunglasses.

I must also note that the frames of these glasses are numerous cheap plastic, that when opening and spreading “wings” more or less to place over the head, that they flex a bit, and this is likely why the lens pops out. Upon one time of the lens popping out, it hit the conrete placing a minor chip on it. The lady that I spoke to at LUXOTTICA said that they were replacing the lens, consequently the 35 bucks. I told her that the lens was not the problem, it was the fact that it would pop out of the cheap plastic frame. Likely the same problem will proceed when glasses are returned.

All and all a very disheartening experience with one of the most disreputable companies that I’ve ever done business with. I full intend to take this up likewise with Ferragama at their corporate level, as the local store would do not one thing to resolve. Posting on YELP to follow.
