Decadent, Sexy, Rich and Almost Edible
By Cologniac
First, a disclaimer. I’m a man who purchased this for my wife. I purchased it as a blind buy, based on advert and reviews, but it ended up being very close to what I expected, if not better. So for starters, I would say that you will have to believe the product publicity and imagery.
I purchased this for my wife because I thought that it would be sexy and luxurious on her. And I was not disappointed. I like all kinds of scents on my wife, but it is the strong, in-your-face scents that I find in truth exciting. Gucci has that sort of unapologetic take on luxuriousness – “in your face” – and this scent does not deviate from it. The bottle looks like a gilded piece of numerous type of “Death by Chocolate” confection, and that’s how I would describe the scent – rich, dark, and edible. It’s not chocolate, but it triggers a similar hunger in me. I closely feel like I need to keep the bottle on a way-too-big plate, with lightning bolts of chocolate and raspberry syrup drizzle making a big electric X on it. Or perhaps big, girly-swirly lines that spell “Gucci”.
My wife likes the scent, but not for every day wear, specially to work. She alternatively chooses lighter and more plainly floral scents for that. There are numerous women who could wear Gucci/Gucci all the time, and they recognise who they are. Nothing defective with that – it just needs to be your style.
The scent has some lighter, fruity topnotes that are enjoyable, but within minutes they vanish from the scene, and it goes into a sliding scale of gradually darkening base, which has a new and dissimilar edibility to it. I’m a patchouli kind of guy, but the patchouli in the base is so well built upon that I don’t even think of it as being there.
I don’t think this is a rare classic like Angel (five stars), but it’s not attempting to be. Angel is a finelooking new starlet in a white fur coat who knocks you over with the rest of the paparazzi when she walks by, and leaves you not caring that you forgot to put film in the camera. All of a sudden, you’re a fan again. Gucci is different. She’s a mystery woman in a dark fur and sunglasses who gets into a black limo while you’re engaged in a struggle to get film loaded. You don’t recognise who she is, but you know you’re gonna blow a paycheck to find out. Your instincts tell you there’s a little black dress under the fur. But when she’s gone, you try to imagine that she was wearing not one thing at all.

made a great mother’s day gift
By V. Zheleznyak
i purchased this for my mother for mothers day. she is in her 40s and loves to dress up/go out etc. she (and i) perfectly loved the scent of this perfume. the bottle and box are very imagination and unquestionably give it a great and highpriced flair. the scent is sophisticated, strong and unforgettable yet isnt intoxicating. i do not recognise if it is because of who i got this for, but i do not think i would commend this for younger women (20s?).
